2023 Summer Rookie Baseball

(Roster Spots Limited and NOT for Travel Players)

Based on parent feedback and popular demand VBSL is offering a trial run at an enhanced Rookie Baseball season for Summer. This an opportunity for your player to continue to learn the game of baseball in a fun competitive environment.

This program will be slightly more competitive baseball environment than Spring Rookie baseball. Teams will meet one or two times a week, Monday through Thursday, for modified baseball games over the summer.

Modifications include 4 inning limit or 75 minutes. Two innings coach pitch (5-pitch max or three strikes) followed by two innings KID PITCH from 40 feet. A catcher behind the plate. No stealing. 4-run inning limit. Coaches continue to umpire the game. No playoffs or standing. But scores count.

No modified baseballs. Standard Little League hard baseballs.

No team practice days or times are guaranteed. The focus here is playing games as a summer activity. We may be able to use the first week as a practice depending on how Spring Rec ends and based on field availability.

We do encourage using pregame warmup time for practice and instruction. Participants receive t-shirt and hat. Full baseball gear is recommend, plan to buy gray baseball pants, belts, and socks. A baseball glove is needed and a helmet, bat, and bag is encourage.

Each Rookie League team has a manager and will need to be Rutgers Safety Course Certified.

Participants must be currently attending 1st and 2nd Grade as Fall 2022 to be eligible for this program. Boys or Girls are eligible for this program, however, please note there is a Rookie Summer Softball Program may be available as well.
